Feng Shui is based on the principle that how, where and when we live affects our lives in subtle and profound ways. The Chinese watched the changes in these life effects and noted them over generations, making notes and adjustments, constructing a system based on creating a pleasing and supportive set of conditions within the home and the land it sits on.
Think about it. Is there a home in your neighbourhood that changes hands every couple of years because, for some reason, the couples who move into it somehow end up divorcing? One lady described a home in her area where whoever moved into it, after a little while the woman tended to become chronically ill. Often the people who live in the area might refer to a house as "the divorce house" or "the mad house", for example.
We tend to be drawn to homes that reflect where we are in life. If we want to change our lives, often changing our environment can help dramatically. Think about when you clear out your clutter. Doesn't that feel so much better - as if you are making room for fabulous new experiences in your life?
Wouldn't it be great if, instead of being drawn to a home that reinforces where we are in our lives, we could consciously choose a home that supports where we want to be?
When I moved up to Scotland in 2002, I purposefully chose a house that had a particularly supportive energy for success in study, which I used both for my children and myself. The opportunity arose to study for a degree ... and I received First Class Honours! Even more wonderful was that my dyslexic daughter passed all her Standard Grades - these are the exams 16 year olds take in Scotland - most of them with Credit grades. The following year she passed three Highers and the the year after that she passed at Advanced level. She had no special help (apart from me!), no extra tuition, no concessions at exam time. Her study area (and mine) was placed in that particular part of the house that supported success in exams.
Do you have a child who struggles at exam time? Or perhaps who finds it difficult to concentrate on school work? With the pressures on children these days to perform, we want, as parents, to give them as much of an advantage as we can in order to help them to succeed. Feng Shui can be another tool in this support for yourself and your family.
Perhaps you would like to get along better with your mother in law. Or maybe one of your teenage children is having a particularly tough time, with all the consequences for the rest of the family that that involves.
Perhaps when you moved into this particular house, you began to put on weight like never before and you just can't seem to shift it.
Making Feng Shui adjustments can help in these and a great many other situations and I'd love to work with you to rearrange your life to facilitate subtle and profound changes.
